Jordan Allott
Jordan Allott was born in Reading, England. When still young, Jordan's family moved to the United States, first to Truxton, New York, and later to Madison, Wisconsin. Jordan attended Chaminade University of Honolulu, where he began to focus much of his energy on political activities. In 1997, he returned to Madison, where he graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with three degrees: political science, philosophy, and film production. Jordan suffered the loss of his mother in the summer of 1998, and this led to his interest in artistically investigating self-reflection through film. His passion for the discovery of God, self, and the world, combined with his interest in traveling, has led him to visit over a dozen countries, including living in Salamanca, Spain for six months in the spring of 2003.
Jordan has written, directed, and produced four short fiction film and video projects - three through the University of Wisconsin and one subsequent to graduation called Defenestration. Defenestration, a 16 mm black and white film which explores issues of faith, technology, addiction, and isolation, premiered in Madison in August of 2003 and went on to screen at a number of film festivals, including the Washington, D.C. Independent Film Festival. In January of 2004, Jordan had the opportunity to work on a documentary, The Eucharist Expedition, during which he and a group of priests and laymen climbed Mount Ixta, a volcano two hours outside of Mexico City. Plans for a second Eucharist Expedition, this time climbing Africa’s Mt. Kilimanjaro, are currently being made. In the late summer of 2004, Jordan moved to Washington D.C. to work on a political documentary for Salt and Light Catholic Television based in Toronto, Canada, called "Be Not Afraid! The Courage to Be a Catholic Politician." Jordan, through In Altum Productions, has recently finished post-production on two Catholic educational videos with the Community of St. John’s Father Antoine Thomas. The first video, a mountaineering documentary entitled "To the Heights! Our Spiritual Ascent Towards God”, is a catechetical video for teenagers and young adults. The second video, “Children’s Adoration in the Third Millennium”, is an inspirational and educational video displaying the wonderful impact Eucharistic adoration has had on children all over the world. In Altum Productions has begun work on a number of new projects, including a video documenting an ecumenical pilgrimage across Europe with both Catholics and Lutherans from Toledo, Ohio and a moving and reflective video entitled “Suffering and Our Lady of Sorrows” with Fr. Benedict Groeschel of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal. IAP is also planning projects that highlight the beauty and mystery of the religious vocation for women and a documentary underscoring the plight of political prisoners in Cuba. |
